MAYVILLE STATE, N.D. -- Six Bruins recorded at least eight kills as Bellevue University battled to a 3-2 (19-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-20, 15-8) victory at Mayville State University in North Star Athletic Association action Friday night at Lewy Lee Arena. 

With the win, the Bruins improved to 17-8 on the season and remained in second place in the NSAA with a 7-2 league record. MSU fell to 17-12 overall and 3-6 in conference play. 

Senior Shayla Scanlan led the Bruins with 17 kills, five digs, and three blocks. Andrea Carson added 16 kills and Sierra Athen produced 12 kills five digs and four blocks. 

Olivia Galas dished out 58 assists while adding seven digs, four blocks, and a service ace. 

Defensively, the Bruins were paced by Madi Evans' career-high 35 digs. 

Cassidy Miller pocketed a match-high 21 kills on .326 hitting and added three blocks to lead the Comets. Hannah Bliss and Victoria Johnson both collected 15 kills, joining Miller in double figures. 

Reigning NSAA Defensive Player of the Week Jayden Wagner recorded a match-high 39 digs for the MSU defense. 

The Bruins outhit MSU, .215 to .176 while notching a season-high 19 team blocks.  

BU is now 3-3 on the season in five-set matches.

Bellevue will travel to Aberdeen, S.D. tomorrow for a 1 p.m. conference contest at Presentation College.
