Bellevue falls in four sets to Doane

CRETE, Neb. -- After splitting the first two sets the (RV) Bellevue University volleyball team was unable to keep pace as they fell to Doane University, 3-1, at the George and Sally Haddix Recreation and Athletic Center in a non-conference match on Tuesday evening.

Outside hitters Andrea Carson and Sierra Athen combined on 29 kills to lead the Bellevue attack. Carson pounded out 18 (.163 hitting), her second-highest total of the season, and Athen added 11 (.085 hitting) to go along with her seven digs.

BU Setter Olivia Galas recorded her 10th double-double finishing the evening with 40 assists to go along with 11 digs.

Madi Evans led the Bruins defensive effort with 30 digs. She was joined in double-figures by Reahgan Stueve (16), Sidney Craig (15), and Galas.

The Bruins were limited to just a .107 hitting effort to Doane's .238 mark but BU did out-dig the Tigers 89-77.

Three Doane hitters set the tone for the offense. Alexis Dale (15 kills, .467 hitting), Allison Kuenle (15 kills, .196 hitting), and Madison VanHousen (14 kills, .342 hitting) combined for 44 of Doane's 56 kills, attacking at a .306 rate.

Sarah Klobuchar directed the Tiger offense with 44 assists.

Defensively, Reagan Petersen led Doane with 23 digs and was closely followed by Kuenle's 19 digs to complete her double-double. Dale (6 blocks) and Klobuchar (5 blocks) led the way blocking.

Bellevue jumps back into league play this weekend with a pair of matches. BU takes on Mayville State on Friday evening at 7 p.m. and follows that up with a 1 p.m. match against Presentation on Saturday.
