BELLEVUE, Neb. ­-- The #23 Bellevue University volleyball team snapped a two-match skid by sweeping a pair of matches at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon. BU began the day by sweeping College of the Ozarks 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-15) before going on to dispatch Dickinson State University 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-15).

Following the matches, the Bruins honored their six seniors – Mikaylah Gillespie, Rachel Wald, Taylor Holz, Hope Lambrecht, Gracie Myers, and Michaela Gardner – for their contributions to the program.

Bellevue (26-9, 11-4 NSAA) wraps up its regular-season schedule on Thursday, Nov. 2 with a 6 p.m. match in La Crosse, Wis. against #2 Viterbo University.

Coming off a disappointing performance on Friday evening BU came out firing on all cylinders with a dominating win over Ozarks who had won five-straight coming into Saturday's contest.

BU out-hit Ozarks, which was receiving votes in the latest NAIA Top 25 Poll, by a sizable margin in each set as they accumulated a .248-.034 hitting advantage for the match. They were led by Shayla Scanlan's 11 kills while Andrea Carson joined her in double figures with 10 kills of her own. Mikaylah Gillespie and Hope Lambrecht chipped in with nine and seven kills, respectively.

Maddie Squiers directed the BU attack with 37 assists to go along with six digs.

Defensively, Fabiola Aviles led the Bruins with 13 digs and Taylor Holz added 12 as BU out-dug Ozarks 64-48 on the afternoon.

Alex Spears led the Bobcats with 12 kills. Danielle Curnes (15) and Haley Stallings (12) both totaled double-figure digs for CofO and Rielly Dobbs quarterbacked the offense with 21 assists.

Bellevue hit .357 as a team, their third-best mark of the season while limiting Dickinson State to just a .098 attacking effort.

Hope Lambrecht paced the Bruins with 12 kills on a career-best .857 hitting effort while Michaela Gardner contributed nine kills while hitting .300.

Maddie Squiers nearly had a double-double, finishing with 34 assists and nine digs as the Bruins out-dug the Blue Hawks 30-27 on the afternoon.

Kylie Hadley led Dickinson State with nine kills and Shelby Gustafson hit a team-best .364 in the match. Brianna Holland led the Blue Hawks with 16 assists and Shaylee Singleton contributed with 11 digs.
