SIOUX CENTER, Iowa -- The Bellevue University volleyball team saw their 12-match road trip come to an end on Tuesday evening with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-16) loss to 6th-ranked Dordt College in non-conference action.

The loss snaps the Bruins' modest three-match win streak and sees Bellevue fall to 24-8 on the season while Dordt improves to 24-5 the win.

Maddie Squiers notched a double-double with 10 digs and 29 assists to pace the BU offense. Shayla Scanlan led the Bruins with 12 kills on .286 hitting for the evening. Michaela Gardner and Mikaylah Gillespie each chipped in five kills while Taylor Holz contributed a team-high 12 digs.

Jamie Gesink totaled a double-double for the Defenders with 14 digs and 39 assists. Dordt was paced, offensively, by Ema Altena (13 kills, .243 hitting) while Ally Krommendyk (9 kills, .429 hitting) and Julie Lindbergh (8 kills, .636 hitting) both played large roles in the attack. Haley Moss and Leah Kamp each added six kills.

Dordt out-hit Bellevue in all three sets en route to a .305-.115 hitting advantage on the evening. The Defenders also held a 59-47 advantage in digs over the visiting Bruins.

Bellevue returns home on Friday, Oct. 27 to host the University of Jamestown in a crucial NSAA match at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
