DICKINSON, N.D. -- The 19th-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team got solid performances from several hitters en route to a decisive 3-0 victory over Dickinson State University in North Star Athletic Association action on Saturday evening at Scott Gymnasium. Bellevue won by set scores of 25-20, 25-23, and 25-20.

Bellevue improves to 18-4 (6-1 NSAA) with the victory while Dickinson State sees their record fall to 4-10 (2-4).

Mikaylah Gillespie led all Bruin hitters with 11 kills and a .320 hitting percentage to help the Bruins past Dickinson State, out-hitting the host Blue Hawks in two of three sets.

Maddie Squiers dished out 37 assists to help the team to a .158 hitting percentage on the evening while Rachel Wald (9 kills), Shayla Scanlan (8 kills), and Hope Lambrecht (6 kills) all chipped in hitting.

BU was led, defensively, by Taylor Holz's nine digs but were out-dug 41-35 as a team.

Ellie Hanser and Kylie Hadley led the Blue Hawks with six kills apiece while Hadley added a match-high 10 digs.

Bellevue returns to the court next weekend when they travel to Lake Wales, Fla. for three non-conference games. The Bruins take on St. Thomas and Warner on Friday, Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively, before wrapping up their trip on Saturday, Oct. 7 with a 9:30 a.m. match against Webber International.
