BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Morningside College had five players in double figures as the Mustangs defeated No. 25 Bellevue University 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 26-24, 25-15) Saturday night in the final match of the Premier Labor Day Classic being played at the Lied Activity Center. 

The loss snapped the Bruins' five-match winning streak, dropping BU to 6-3 on the season. Morningside improved to 7-5 overall with the win. 

Shayla Scanlan led the Bruins with 17 kills on .308 hitting while adding three blocks. Hope Lambrecht finished with seven kills, six blocks, five digs and three service aces. Maddie Squiers registered 39 assists, nine digs, four blocks and three kills in the loss. 

The BU defense was paced by Cheyenne Mahnke's 16 digs. 

The Mustangs were led by Brittany Fleming's 17 kills and Nikki Oberfoell's 25 digs.  

The Bruins will be idle next Friday-Saturday, Sept. 8-9 when they travel to Springfield, Mo. to compete in the Evangel Classic.
