BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Four Bruins recorded double figures in kills and Maddie Squiers recorded her second double-double of the day as the 20th-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team came back from a 2-1 deficit to record a 3-2 (25-17, 22-25, 23-25, 25-20, 16-14) win over No. 24 Madonna University Friday night in the Premier Labor Day Classic. 

Bellevue improved to 5-2 on the season with the win. The Bruins handed MU its first loss of the year, dropping the Crusaders to 8-1 overall. Shayla Scanlan led the Bruins with 20 kills on .529 hitting while adding five blocks. Rachel Wald pounded a season-high 15 kills and five digs. 

Andrea Carson collected 12 kills and Hope Lambrecht chipped in with 11 kills on .348 hitting along with four blocks. Squiers directed the BU offense to a .258 hitting percentage, registering 58 assists, a team-high 16 digs, eight blocks and six kills. 

Mikaylah Gillespie finished with a career high 10 blocks, to go along with five kills, three digs and three assists. 

Karlie Kelly (19) and Amanda Hawkins (18) combined for 37 kills to pace the Crusader offense, while Alyssa Facione notched 19 digs for the MU defense. 

The Bruins overcame deficits of 6-3 and 12-10 in the fifth, ending the match on a kill by Squiers and a block by Lambrecht and Squiers on Kelly to seal the win. 

Bellevue will continue action in the tournament on Saturday with a 3 p.m. match against Peru State and a 7 p.m. contest with Morningside.
