BUTTE, Mont. – After taking the first set, the Bruins could not maintain the momentum as No. 25 College of Idaho defeated Bellevue University, 22-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-15 Saturday morning at the Big Sky Challenge being played at the Butte Civic Center.
The Bruins fell to 1-2 on the season with the loss. COI remaining undefeated on the year, improving to 7-0.
Shayla Scanlan led the Bruins with 18 kills on .467 hitting. Maddie Squiers nearly recorded a triple-double, finishing with 40 assists, 15 digs and eight kills on 11 errorless swings.
In her first start at libero, Taylor Holz registered a season-high 22 digs, while adding four assists.
The Coyotes ran a balanced attack with four players in double figures, led by Jackie Van Vliet's 15 kills on .444 hitting.
The Bruins will conclude the tournament with an 8 p.m. (CDT) match tonight against No. 23-ranked Carroll College.
