BOURBONNAIS, Ill. -- Junior Rachel Barr attacked at .600 and sophomore Taylor Holz notched a match-high 27 digs to lead the Bellevue University volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Judson (Ill.) at the Olivet Nazarene Invitational. Bellevue won by scores of 25-22, 25-21, and 25-13.

Bellevue attacked just .059 in the opening set but played strong defense and took advantage of some Judson errors to claim a narrow three point victory. In the second set the Bruins allowed just eight kills by the Eagles in claiming a four point win to take a commanding two sets to none lead. In the third, and final, set Bellevue held Judson to a -.078 hitting percentage while hitting at .167 themselves to cruise to a 25-13 win and match sweep.

Freshman Shayla Scanlan finished with a match-best 10 kills while Barr and freshman Lauren Colpitts each finished with six. Sophomores Mikaylah Gillespie and Rachel Wald each added five kills.

Senior Beth Walker directed the attack finishing with 30 assists on her way to a team-best 12th double-double, finishing with 13 digs as well. Defensively three other Bruins – senior Victoria Bowens, sophomore Addison Smith, and freshman Erin Warren – each finished with at least five digs.

The Bruins (9-8) return to the court at 7 p.m. when they take on Trinity Christian.
