BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Freshman Shayla Scanlan posted her second straight double-figure kill match with a career-best 16 as the Bellevue University volleyball team defeated Culver-Stockton, 3-1, on Thursday evening at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center. The win was the 400th of Head Coach Trish Siedlik's career.

Bellevue could do no wrong as they hit .375 in the opening set to jump out to an early 1-0 lead on the Wildcats with a 25-19 win in the opener. Scanlan, sophomore Hope Lambrecht, and senior Beth Walker each attacked without error, registering six, three, and three kills, respectively.

After their initial success, the Bruins cooled down considerably in the second set, getting out-hit .184-.029 and falling 26-24 as Culver-Stockton evened the match at one set apiece. For her part, Lambrecht remained unblemished on her attacks but BU combined to make 13 errors in the set.

The third set saw Bellevue reclaim some of their opening set success, winning 25-15, and out-hitting Culver-Stockton .139-.162 to take a 2-1 lead in the match.

In the fourth set Bellevue rallied from a 21-17 deficit, scoring eight of the final nine points of the match to claim a 25-22 victory. Sophomore Rachel Wald recorded a pair of service aces to close out the match.

Scanlan topped all players with kills and was third among Bruins with a .300 hitting percentage. Lambrecht finished with 11 kills and hit .345 while Walker and Wald each posted seven kills, hitting .333 and .222, respectively. Bellevue was led in digs by sophomore Taylor Holz (22) while freshman Erin Warren (18) and Walker (10) each finished in double figures. For Walker, who led the match with 36 assists, it was her fourth double-double of the season.

For the match Bellevue hit .186 while Culver-Stockton finished with a .061 hitting percentage while BU also out-dug and out-blocked the Wildcats.

Bellevue (2-5) is back in action tomorrow as they host the annual BU Labor Day Classic at the Lied Activity Center, located at 2700 Arboretum Drive in Bellevue.
