BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The 11th-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team finished 4-0 in the Bruin Labor Day Classic, concluding the tournament with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-22) sweep over Midland Lutheran Saturday night at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.
The Bruins, who were the only undefeated team in the tournament, improved to 7-1 on the season while Midland fell to 3-5 overall. Earlier in the day, Bellevue defeated Benedictine 25-10, 25-20, 28-26.
Senior Rachel Muller led the Bruins, recording her fourth-straight double-double and her sixth of the season, finishing with 14 kills on .429 hitting and 12 digs.
Sophomore Maureen Wardian hit .500 with nine kills, just one error, in 16 attempts. she also added a match-high four blocks.
Senior Lace Puffer also hit .500 (8k-1e-14a) in the match while adding three blocks.
Junior Katy Gregory joined Muller in double figures in digs, finishing with 10 on the night at BU held a 42-36 advantage in that category.
Freshman Jordan Broady directed the BU offense to a .324 attack percentage while dishing out 30 assists and adding six digs.
Muller was named MVP of the tournament. Wardian and Broady were also named to the all-tournament team.
The Bruins resume conference action next Saturday, Sept. 12 when they host Haskell Indian Nations at 1 p.m. in the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.
