ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- Outside hitters Rachel Muller and Kali Schnacker combined for 21 kills to lead the 11th-ranked Bellevue University volleyball team to a decisive 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-14) sweep over Mayville State Friday night in the Bruins' second match of the Red Raider Classic on the Northwestern College campus.
Bellevue improved to 2-0 on the season after posting a 3-1 win over Sioux Falls earlier in the day. On Saturday, Bellevue will face fourth-ranked Azusa Pacific at 9 a.m. before concluding the tournament with a 1 p.m. match against Black Hills State.
Muller recorded her second-straight double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs, both team highs. She hit .429 in the match with just two errors in 21 attempts.
Schnacker collected a season-high 10 kills, while adding two digs and a block.
Paced by sophomore middle blocker Maureen Wardian .600 hitting percentage (9k-0-15a), the Bruins hit at an impressive .357 clip.
Junior middle blocker Jaclyn Thorson was the third Bruin to hit above .400, pounding nine kills, with two errors in 15 attempts for a .467 attack percentage.
Freshman setter Jordan Broady dished out a season-high 39 assists, while adding eight digs, two kills and a service ace.
