Jose Vargas enters his second year as
assistant coach for the women’s soccer team after a standout
career with the Bellevue men’s soccer program.
Vargas was born and raised in Mexicali, Mexico. He came to United
States in 1996 where he attended Omaha Bryan High School and played
four years of varsity soccer for the Bears. After high school, he
attended Bellevue University, earning his bachelor’s degree
in sports management while playing for the Bruin men’s soccer
team.
Vargas began his coaching with the Bellevue Viva soccer club in
2005 and in 2007 he assisted with the Papillion-LaVista High School
soccer program.
In the spring of 2008, Vargas coached at Omaha South High School
where he helped guide the Packers to their first ever Nebraska
State Tournament appearance. He currently coaches for the Toro
Soccer Club and is the assistant soccer coach for the Bellevue West
boys varsity soccer team.
Vargas is the Youth Director of Coaching for Phoenix FC. He holds
a USSF D license and the USSF National Youth license.
