McPherson, Kan. -- Kylee Mastromonaco scored a pair of goals to lead the Bellevue University women's soccer team to their first win of the season, defeating McPherson College 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at McPherson Stadium on the Bulldogs' campus.

Bellevue scored four times in the first half on the strength of a 17-7 advantage in shots (13-3 on goal) to cruise to their first win of the season.

Kylee Mastromonaco put the Bruins on the board in the game's ninth minute when she took a pass from Maiwut Dar and beat the keeper. Mastromonaco added her second goal of the game in the 33rd minute with assists credited to Alexis Tolliver and Maria Tome Flores.

Reyvin Hernandez doubled the BU advantage in the 30th minute with an unassisted strike.

Bellevue put the game away in the 42nd minute when Laura Cook netted the Bruins' fourth goal of the half from 15 yards out to the upper corner of the net.

BU kept up the pressure in the second half, racking up 10 more shots and minimized McPherson's influence to prevent the Bulldogs from climbing back into the game.

Sabrina Staufenbiel made a pair of saves in one half in goal for the Bruins to earn the win. Faith Smith came on for the second half and stopped an additional three shots to preserve the clean sheet.

Christie Silber stopped eight shots for McPherson whose defense was constantly overwhelmed by pressure from the BU attackers.

Bellevue finished the game sizable with advantages in; shots (27-12), shots on goal (17-7), and corner kicks (5-0).

Bellevue plays their regular-season home-opener against #23 Hastings College (0-0-1) at Bellevue Soccer Club on Wednesday, Sept.  5. Kick-off is set for 5 p.m.
