ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- After jumping ahead early the Bellevue University women's soccer team  scored a second half go-ahead goal as they defeated Northwestern College, 2-1, on Saturday evening in the second game of the Pizza Ranch Classic.

With their second win in as many nights the Bruins improve their mark to 2-2-0 on the season while the Red Raiders fall to 1-2-0.

Kaleigh Young put the Bruins on the board early with a second minute goal off a pass from Kristin Hanson. The goal was the first of the season for Young.

The lead remained 1-0 into halftime where BU held a 9-3 edge in shots.

Out of the break, Jennifer Inge pulled Northwestern level at a goal apiece with her 49th minute tally off a pass from Jahdai Dunk.

For the third time in two days Maiwut Dar found the back of the net for BU. The Midland transfer knocked in a 61st minute goal to reclaim the Bruins' lead.

Laurence Rodier stopped seven of the eight shots she faced in goal for Bellevue. Northwestern's Madison Fordyce made nine saves.

Bellevue out-shot Northwestern 19-12 for the match and won three corners while the Red Raiders won four.

Bellevue returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 11 when they travel to Des Moines, Iowa for an 11 a.m. fixture against Grand View.
