BU finishes third as Gradecka captures title at Sydney Cox Invitational

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- In only her second tournament as a Bruin, Dominika Gradecka captured the individual title at the Sydney Cox Invitational, helping the Bellevue University women's golf team to a third-place finish in the nine-team event. The tournament was played at the 5,962-yard, par-72 Lincoln Park Golf Club (West Course). 

Gradecka followed up Monday's 2-under par 68 with an even-par 72 on Tuesday, finishing the tournament at 2-under par, one stroke ahead of Oklahoma Christian's Shaley Goad. She finished Tuesday's second round with two birdies, two bogeys, and 14 pars. Her 2-under total of 140 set a school record for a 36-hole event. 

Texas Wesleyan improved on its first-round total of 300 with a second-round of 3-over 291 to capture the team title. 

The Bruins were six strokes back with a two-round total of 29-over par with rounds of 299 and 298, to give them a third-place showing. Redlands CC finished second with a 25-over par two-round total.  

Shanice DeGee claimed a tie for 10th place after posting a four-over 76 for a 36-hole total of 8-over par. 

Allison Temple had the Bruins' second-best round of the day, carding a 2-over 74, to finish at 9-over par for the tournament. Her round was highlighted by three birdies. 

Tylah Saifoloi rounded at the scoring for BU, finishing at 4-over par for the day and 14-over for the tournament. She also registered three birdies in Tuesday's second round and finished in a tie for 27th in the 61-player field.  

The Bruins will conclude the fall portion of the 2020-21 season next Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 19-20, when they travel to Ankeny, Iowa for the Grand View Invitational.
