Gradecka leads BU to second place after 1st round at Sydney Cox Invitational

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Senior Dominika Gradecka fired a 2-under par 68 on Monday to help lead the Bellevue University women's golf team to second place after the opening round of the nine-team Sydney Cox Invitational being played at the 5,856-yard, par-70 Lincoln Park Golf Club (East Course). 

Gradecka is currently leading the 62-player field after recording four birdies on Monday, with 12 pars and only two bogeys. She recorded a 3-under 32 on the back nine. Her round of 68 was the lowest 18-hole total in school history and the second-best round, relative to par, in program history. 

The Bruins trail tournament host Oklahoma City University by two strokes after registering a team score of 19-over par, 299. OCU sits in first place at 17-over par. The Stars' Lauren Behnken is tied for second with Oklahoma Christian's Shaley Goad at 1-under par. Texas Wesleyan and Redlands CC are just three shots off the tournament lead as both teams posted team totals of 20-over par, 300. 

Shanice DeGee is tied for 11th place at 4-over par (74). Her round was highlighted by a birdie on the 480-yard, par-5, 15th hole. DeGee recorded 12 pars on the round. 

Allison Temple carded a 7-over 77 and is tied for 17th place. She collected two birdies and eight pars in Monday's first round. 

Tylah Saifoloi is tied for 32nd place after finishing with a 10-over 80. She had one birdie and eight pars in her round. 

Tuesday's final round will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The round will be played on the 5,962-yard, par-72 Lincoln Park Golf Club (West Course).
