BU in sixth after two rounds of Northwest Iowa Invite

Le MARS, Iowa -- Three BU golfers are in the top 16 as the Bellevue University women's golf team is currently in sixth place after 36 holes of the 10-team Northwest Iowa National Invitational Tournament being played at the par-72, 5963-yard Willow Creek Golf Club Monday.

William Penn, ranked 14th nationally, leads the field with team scores of 298-302 (600) on Monday. Morningside is three strokes back at 603 (300-303).  No. 15-ranked Texas Wesleyan is nine shots off the pace with a 609 (313-296) two-round team score. 

The Bruins fired rounds of 320 and 334 for a team total of 654. 

Madison Brooks was the top BU golfer on the day, finishing at 9-over par with rounds of 75 and 78, to put her in a tie for 11th place. Allison Temple is tied for 13th at 10-over par after carding rounds of 75 and 79. Mikayla King is tied for 16th after recording rounds of 79 and 76 on Monday. 

Grand View's Karli Kerrigan holds a commanding seven-stroke lead in the 49-player field. She fired the two top rounds on the day with a 69 and a 67 to put her at 8-under par for the tournament. She is one of two players under par as William Penn's Brittany Evans is 1-under with rounds of 71 and 72. 

Tuesday's final 18 holes will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
