Bruins in second after opening round of BU Fall Invite

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Led by junior Allison Temple, the Bellevue University women's golf team is currently in second place in the five-team, season-opening Bellevue University Fall Invitational being played at the 5,866-yard, par-72 Platteview Golf Club on Monday. 

William Penn holds an eight-stroke lead over the Bruins with a first-round team score of 325. The Bruins recorded an opening-round total of 333 and had three individuals in the top five in scoring. Jamestown is 13 strokes off the lead at 338. 

Temple currently leads the 27-player field after firing an opening-round 76. She finished with one birdie and a led the field with 12 pars on the day. She also led the field in par 4 scoring.

Senior Madison Brooks carded a 9-over par 81 and is in fourth place. Brooks had a team-high two birdies in Monday's first round. 

Freshman Mikayla King is currently tied for fifth place after shooting a 10-over 82 on the day. 

Rounding out BU's scoring was sophomore Autumn Fateley, who is tied for 20th, after carding a 94. 

WPU's Julia Hippely is in second place, one shot behind Temple at 5-over par.  

Tuesday's final round will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
