BU secures title at Eagle Spring Golf Classic

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. -- After entering the day with a four-shot lead the Bellevue University women's golf team created additional separation with a tournament-best 319 round to claim the team title at the Eagle Spring Golf Classic played at Battlecreek Golf Club and hosted by Oklahoma Wesleyan University.

Kim Moore and Madison Brooks tied for fifth overall as each shot 14-over (158) for the tournament with Moore carding a team-low 77 (+5) in Tuesday's second round. Brooks, the NSAA Golfer of the Week, checked in with a 78 (+6) on the day.

Allison Temple, who placed seventh, was just a single stroke behind the duo of Moore and Brook with a 36-hole total of 161 (+17) with her 7-over 79 on Tuesday.

Morgan Hazzard finished the tournament at 21-over (165) and Bri Stagge concluded the even at 31-ovr (175) with scores of 85 and 89, respectively, on Tuesday.

Bellevue (642) began the day four shots ahead of second place Southwestern Christian (654) and shot a team score of 319, compared to 327 for the Eagles, to claim a 12-stroke victory. Oklahoma Wesleyan (663), Southwestern (690), and Baker (693) rounded out the five-team field.

Madelyn Lehr (Southwestern Christian) took home the individual title with a two-round total of 153 (+9), finishing a stroke ahead of Abby Bertholf (Southwestern).

The Bruins next compete at the Concordia Spring Invitational on Thursday-Friday, Mar. 28-29 in the Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln, Neb.
