Women's golf finishes second at NSAA Tournament

WAVERLY, Iowa -- The Bellevue University women's golf team moved up one spot, finishing second after the fourth and final round of the North Star Athletic Association Championship Tuesday at the par-72, 5,822-yard Prairie Links Golf Course. 

Monday and Tuesday's rounds were a continuation of the fall portion of the tournament which was played on Sept. 25-26 in Medora, N.D. 

The Bruins used a team score of 326 to pull ahead of Viterbo into the runner-up spot. BU finished the tournament with a 1,343 (350-334-333-326) four-round total. The University of Jamestown captured the team title after posting a 324 team total on the day and a 1,310 total for the tournament. The Jimmies earned an automatic berth into the NAIA Women's Golf National Tournament which will be held on May 22-25 in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. 

Viterbo finished in the third spot with a 1,351 team total. Waldorf (1,429), Dickinson State (1,468), and Valley City State (1,656) rounded out the tournament field.

Sophomore Faustina Peve was the top Bruin place-winner in the tournament, finishing with an 80 on the day and a 327 four-round total, which put her in a tie for fourth in the individual standings. For her efforts, Peve earned first-team all-NSAA honors for the second-straight season. 

Madison Brooks also shot an 80 Tuesday and finished in eighth place with a score of 339.

Kim Moore placed seventh with a tournament score of 337, including shooting a fourth round 83.

Allison Temple registered an 83, putting her in a tie 15th place overall with a 72-hole score of 364.

Bri Stagge carded an 86 on Tuesday but did not compete in the first two rounds of the tournament. 

Jamestown's Annie Nelson captured the individual title after posting a 79 Tuesday and a 72-hole total of 305, 18 strokes ahead of her nearest competitor, Danielle Ducklow of Viterbo.
