ALBERT LEA, Minn. -- The defending North Star Athletic Association women's golf champion Bellevue University owns a nine-stroke lead following the first round of this year's NSAA Championship.

The tournament's first two rounds are being played at the Wedgewood Cove Golf Club in Albert Lea, Minn. with the third and fourth rounds to be contested in April.

Faustina Peve shot a first round 80, good enough for a one stroke lead over teammate Ivane Helias as the duo lead four Bruin golfers in the top 10 after one round of play.

Bellevue leads the tournament by nine strokes over second place Viterbo University, 335-344. Waldorf is third with a score of 353 while Jamestown in the mix in fourth with a score of 363. Valley City, Dickinson State, and Presentation round out the field.

BU's Hannah Maschong and Wendy Monfort are tied in eighth place with scores of 87. Morgan Hazzard, the fifth Bellevue golfer is tied for 16th.
