LINCOLN, Neb. -- Led by Renee Santoyo's first-round score of 77, the Bellevue University women's golf team is currently tied for fifth place after the first day of the 21-team NAIA Preview Meet hosted by Doane College at the par-71 Wilderness Ridge Golf Course.
The Bruins shot a team total of 43-over par, 327, on the day. Lubbock Christian leads the field with an opening round total of 18-over par, 302. William Woods is in second place with a first round total of 309, 25-over par.
Santoyo's score of 6-over par puts her in a tie for ninth place in the individual standings. Maria Saavedra shot an 8-over score 79 and is in a tie for 16th place. Christina VonRiesen is tied for 22nd place with a first-round 83.
Teammates Anna Schopp and Sinae Montoya of Lubbock Christian are currently tied for the individual lead, as each fired 3-over par 74's on the day.
The tournament concludes on Tuesday (Sept. 25) with a 9 a.m. start.
