DICKINSON, N.D. -- Sophomore Elexis Martinez poured in a game-high 18 points and Shayla Dean scored a career-high 15 points to lead the Bellevue University women's basketball team to a 68-57 victory at Dickinson State University Friday evening in North Star Athletic Association action at Scott Gymnasium. 

The Bruins, who swept the season series with the Blue Hawks, improved to 18-9 overall and 9-3 in the NSAA. DSU fell to 10-17 on the season and 3-9 in league play. 

Dean added five rebounds, three assists and a steal in the win while Martinez pulled down a team-high seven boards. Faith Ross was the third Bruin in double figures, finishing with 12 points, along with three rebounds and three assists. 

Rojin Karahan recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds to pace the DSU attack. Anna Jofresa was the only other Blue Hawk in double figures, finishing with 13 points to go with three assists and a pair of steals.  

After BU built an 11-point lead early in the third quarter, the Blue Hawks battled back to within four points at 43-39 following a 10-3 run. The Bruins responded by scoring eight-straight points to end the quarter, taking a 51-39 advantage heading into the final frame.  

The Blue Hawks never got closer than nine points the remainder of the contest and BU led by as many as 13 points (67-54) following a jumper by Martinez, before the Bruins cruised to the 68-57 victory.  

BU outshot the Blue Hawks 45.8 to 34.8 percent, including a decisive 45 to 22.7 percent edge from behind the arc. The Bruins also outrebounded DSU by a 37-32 margin.  

The Bruins will head to Aberdeen, S.D. tomorrow afternoon for a 5 p.m. contest at Presentation College.
