TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Bellevue University softball team won a pair of games Tuesday at the Tucson Invitational Games, sliding past Purdue University North Central, 2-1, before capping the day with a 9-3 win over Viterbo University.

The Bruins evened their record at 4-4 on the season with the two wins and are now 3-0 in the tournament.

Senior Kendra Gansz' two-out RBI double in the fifth inning broke a 1-1 tie, lifting the Bruins past Purdue North Central in Tuesday's first game.

Gansz went 2-for-4 with two doubles to lead the Bruins at the plate while senior Aly Bowers picked up the win, giving up six hits and improving her record to 2-3.

Senior Jenny Gawart blasted a solo home run in the top of the second to give the Bruins an early 1-0 advantage. The Panthers tied it up in the bottom of the third before Gansz' game-winning double in the fifth.

The Bruins erupted for seven runs in the sixth inning, while blasting 13 total hits in a 9-3 win over Viterbo University

Sophomore Brooke Ellis finished 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs and a home run to lead the Bruins at the plate. Junior Allie Bartley went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Sophomore Erica McCoy went 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs coming off a bases-loaded single in the sixth.

Senior Alissa Crumley earned the win, improving to 2-1 on the season. She had a no-hitter up until the sixth inning and finished with a season-high 11 strikeouts, while allowing four hits over the final two innings.

The Bruins will continue action in the tournament on Wednesday (Mar. 10) with a 5 p.m. (CST) game against Minot State and a 7 p.m. contest against Monmouth College.
