LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Bellevue University junior Fletcher Hedge (Beccles, England) has been named the Continental Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the CAC league office on Monday morning.

The Bruin center back scored the game-winning goal with five seconds remaining in Saturday's 2-1 win over Morningside University to give BU its second last-minute victory of the week.

As part of BU's center back trio, Hedge helped anchor a defense that yielded just 13 shots in five games on the week with just three coming on goal as the Bruins improved to 6-0-0, their best start in program history.

Bellevue is now allowing just 0.67 goals per game, 6.2 shots per game, 2.5 shots on goal per game, and has posted a pair of shutouts.

Bellevue travels to Oklahoma City University on Thursday, Sept. 12 for a 7:30 p.m. kick-off and play at University of Science & Arts on Saturday, Sept. 14 in another 7:30 p.m. start.
