HASTINGS, Neb. -- Playing their eighth road game in nine matches the Bellevue University men's soccer team succumbed to defeat at the hands of defending NAIA National Champion Hastings College on Tuesday evening at Lloyd Wilson Field. Hastings used a five-goal first half en route to a convincing 6-0 win over the Bruins.

The loss sees Bellevue fall to 3-5-1 overall while #11 Hastings improves to 5-3-0 with their third win in their last four games.

Mark Tautz put Hastings on the board in the game's 10th minute with a goal off a pass from Nick Hinds before Oscar Zamudio doubled the Bronco lead to 2-0 in the 19th minute.

Consecutive goals from Brayant Toro in the 28th and 33rd minutes, respectively swelled the Hastings lead to 4-0 before Tor Troston, off a pass from Nick Hinds, capped the first half scoring in the 35th minute.

Eric Birighitti wrapped up the scoring with his 80th minute strike from Toro to account for the final 6-0 margin.

Hastings owned a 15-4 (9-1 on goal) advantage in shots in this game while accumulating four corner kicks to BU's two.

Four different Bruins – Scott Robson, Lee Woolmore, Finlay Bloodworth, and Inaki Aldao – got off shots but to no avail as only Bloodworth's found its way on target but that strike was turned away by keeper Joe White who earned the shutout.

Bellevue returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 23 when they take on Hannibal-LaGrange at 4 p.m. in Hannibal, Mo.
