OMAHA, Neb. -- The Bellevue University men's soccer team defeated Central Christian College 1-0 in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon at Tranquility Park.
Bellevue moved to 5-7-0 and 2-1-0 in the MCAC with the win while Central Christian fell to 2-9-3 overall and 0-2-1 in league action.
The Bruins scored the lone goal of the match on Manuel Lira's header off a cross into the front of the net by Jamie Waters in the 30th minute.
The Bruins controlled the action throughout the match and held a 29-1 advantage in shots and a 13-1 edge in corner kicks. The 29 shots are a season-high.
Lira led the offensive attack with six shots, including five on goal, and Leigh Veidman added five shots.
Scott Robertson improved to 4-3-0 and recorded one save in goal for BU. Alex Akrawi (2-9-3) notched 14 saves in the loss for the Tigers.
The Bruins will return to the pitch on Wednesday, Oct. 23 for a 3:30 p.m. conference match against York College at Tranquility Park.
