LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- The Bellevue University men's golf team is currently in seventh place after the opening round of play in the 12-team Rocky Mountain College Intercollegiate at Lake Las Vegas. The spring season opener is being played at the 6,898-yard, par-72 at the Reflection Bay Golf Club.
The Bruins shot a team score of 24-over 312. Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) is currently in the lead at 6-over par (294).
Hugo Ronnberg fired the top Bruin round on the day with a 4-over 76. He is currently tied for 20th place in the 65-player field. His round was highlighted by a pair of birdies.
Alex Zillig shot a 5-over 77 and is tied for 23rd place.
Rodrigo Navarrete is tied for 34th after carding a 7-over 79. He registered three birdies in the opening round.
Baptiste Bonnet is in a tie for 37th after shooting an 8-over 80, sparked by three birdies.
Highlighted by three birdies, Floris-Jan Oosterhof registered a 9-over 81 and is tied for 40th place.
Eric Martin of The Master's University leads the field at 2-under par.
Wednesday's final round will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
