Oosterhof, Zillig have Bruins in first at Midwest Invite

SILVIS, Ill. -- Floris-Jan Oosterhof and Alex Zillig both fired 1-under rounds of 70 to put the No. 13-ranked Bellevue University men's golf team in first place after one round of play at the 19-team NAIA Midwest Invitational.

With two players at 1-under and two at 1-over, Bellevue fired an even par first round to build an 8-stroke lead over second place Grand View University (+8, 292).

Grand View's top three golfers were just four shots off BU's top three but the fourth-spot saw Bellevue pick up four strokes on their lead.

Indiana Wesleyan (+15, 299), Campbellsville (+17, 301), and Mount Mercy (+20, 304) round out the top five in the team standings.

The field features three Nationally Ranked teams in No. 13 Bellevue, No. 18 Grand View, and No. 22 Lindsey Wilson as well as three others receiving votes in the latest Coaches Poll; Campbellsville, Marian, and Columbia.

Individual Recap:

Floris-Jan Oosterhof and Alex Zillig posted matching scores of 70 and sit in a tie for second place at 1-under.

Andre Becerra and Cameron Lampe are both in the mix near the top of the leaderboard after recording first round scores of 72, good for 1-over and part of a four-way tie for sixth place.

Lampe turned in a team-best four birdies on Monday while Zillig, Oosterhof, and Becerra each notched four birdies on the round.

Zillig and Oosterhof led BU with 16 holes at or under par and Becerra totaled 15 such holes.

Lautaro Marzilio, the Bruins' fifth golfer, signed his name to a 9-over round and sits in a tie for 48th overall.

Golfing as an individual, Tobias Santillan Tambosco is tied for 42nd after shooting an 8-over 79 on Monday.

Cameron Luczka (Indiana Wesleyan) is the individual leader after carding a 2-under round of 69. He holds a one stroke lead over Oosterhof and Zillig.
