Bruins in lead after first round of Nebraska Intercollegiate

NORFOLK, Neb. -- Floris-Jan Oosterhof and Alex Zillig found themselves in the top five of the individual leaderboard and the Bellevue University men's golf team holds a one stroke lead after one round of play at the 2018 Nebraska Intercollegiate Championship.

The Course:

The 2018 Nebraska Intercollegiate Championship is being played at the 6,839-yard, par 72 Norfolk Country Club.

Team Recap:

Bellevue was the only team under 300 as the Bruins shot a team score of 299 (+11). They are currently one stroke ahead of second place Nebraska Wesleyan (300, +12). Midland (305, +17), Doane (309, +21), and Midland "B" (312, +24) round out the top five after one round of play in the 14-team field.

BU and Nebraska Wesleyan each had three golfers in the top 10 individually with the Bruins seeing an additional individual amongst the leaders.

Doane and Midland each put a pair of golfers in the top 10 and Northeast Community College had one there as well.

Individual Recap:

Midland's Joe Vest is atop the 82-golfer field with a first round total of 72 (E), a stroke ahead of Bellevue's Floris-Jan Oosterhof and Doane's Ty Crandon who each carded first round totals of 73 (+1).

There is currently a four-way tie for second place as Bellevue's Alex Zillig and Lautaro Marzilio along with Nebraska Wesleyan's Alex Kubik and Midland's Kean Kontor all shot a 2-over 74 on Friday afternoon.
