Bruins in tie for 4th behind Arzate's big day

SILVIS, Ill. -- Fernando Arzate shot a 4-under par 67 on Friday to help guide the Bellevue University men's golf team into a tie for fourth place after the first round of the TPC Deere Run Invitational being played at the par-71, 6,603-yard TPC at Deere Run. 

The Bruins shot a team score of 3-over par 287 and are nine shots off the lead of first-place Taylor University which fired a 6-under 278 on the day. There are 23 teams competing for the title. 

Arzate's 4-under-par score puts him in third place in the 120-player field. His score of 67 was the sixth lowest in school history. 

Juan Gomez and Lautaro Marzilio are tied for 28th after both shot 2-over 73's on the day. Andre Becerra carded a 3-over 74 and is in a tie for 40th place. 

Rasmus Lind of Lindsey Wilson and Julien Sale of Indian Hills CC are leading the tournament at 5-under par. 

Saturday's final round will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
