Beccera leads BU to 2nd place finish at TPC Deere Run

SILVIS, Ill. -- Freshman Andre Becerra won individual honors to help lead the Bellevue University men's golf team to a second-place finish at the 11-team TPC Deere Run Invitational at the TPC Deere Run Golf Club Saturday. 

Beccera matched his Friday round of 3-under-par 68 for a two-round total of 6-under par 136 (68-68). He finished two strokes ahead of Taylor University's Alec Dutkowski, who shot the day's top round of 66 to finish at 4-under par (72-66). Sixty individuals competed in the tournament. 

Taylor won the team title with a 7-under team total of 567 (289-278). The Bruins finished two strokes back at 5-under par with a total of 569 (289-280). 

Fernando Arzate placed third in the individual standings with a 3-under par score of 139 (70-69). Nicolas Handal tied for 17th place at 4-over par 146 (76-70). Juan Gomez finished in a tie for 28th place at 9-over par with a 151 (78-73) total. Diego Gudino tied for 34th place at 12-over par. 

The Bruins will travel to Indianapolis, Ind. on April 11-12 to compete in the Wildcat Cup at the Brickyard.
