KOHLER, Wis. -- Fernando Arzate fired a first round 72 to lead the Bellevue University men's golf team in the first round at the Lawrence Tech. Kohler Classic at Whistling Straights.

Northern Michigan holds the overall team lead with a first round score of 292, two strokes ahead of Texas Wesleyan. Northwestern Ohio and Ferris State are both three strokes back while Our Lady of the Lake rounds out the top five just four strokes off the pace.

Texas Wesleyan's Leo Mathard carded a first round best 68 and holds a two stroke lead among individuals.

As a team, Bellevue currently sits in a tie for 15th place out of 20 teams with a score of 321. Arzate is tied for sixth overall out of 99 golfers.

Diego Gudino is second among BU golfers after a first round 81. Juan Gomez and Nicolas Handal shot 83 and 85 for Bellevue. Inaki Aldao recorded an 88.

The tournament resumes tomorrow morning and will complete Bellevue's fall portion of the 2016-17 schedule.
