ALBERT LEA, Minn. -- Bellevue's Fernando Arzate pulled into a first place tie with Valley City State's Kyle Wiebe following a 1-over 73 in the second round of the 2016-17 North Star Athletic Association Championship Tournament played at the Wedgewood Cove Golf Club.

As a team, Bellevue shot 299 on the day, eight strokes better than their closest competitor, Jamestown. Jamestown pulled into second place in the field with a two total of 624 – 17 strokes behind BU – overtaking Valley City (630) who entered the day three shots ahead of the Jimmies. Viterbo (635) is lurking in fourth place while Waldorf (656) and Dickinson State (726) are in fifth and sixth place, respectively.

Arzate came into the day two shots off the pace but his second round 73 was the second best score of the day and landed him in a tie with first round co-leader  Wiebe.

Juan Gomez recorded the lowest round of the tournament with a 1-under 71 to pull into a tie for third with yesterday's co-leader and teammate Diego Gudino who shot 76.

Lautaro Marzilio matched his performance from yesterday with a score of 79 and Nicolas Handal rounded out the BU team with a score of 80.  Marzilio is in 10th place overall, a stroke ahead of Handal.

The winner of the four-round tournament – which will resume in the spring – earns the North Star's lone automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships.

Next up for Bellevue is a trip to Norfolk, Neb. on Friday-Saturday, Oct. 7-8 for the Nebraska Intercollegiate Championships.
