Bruins edge Viterbo to win NSAA Fall Tournament

OXBOW, N.D. -- Junior Diego Gudino finished in a tie for first place to help the Bellevue University men's golf team to a victory in the North Star Athletic Association Fall Qualifier at the Oxbow Country Club.

The course, Oxbow 1, is a 6,863 yard par 72 with a rating of 132.

Consistency was the key for Gudino who shot a 3-over 75 for the second straight round to finish the tournament with a score of 150. Gudino tied with Taylor Hanson of Viterbo for the individual crown.

Junior Juan Gomez (fourth), freshman Fernando Arzate (sixth), and Marc Juggins (ninth) all joined Gudino in the top 10.  Gomez followed up his first round 75 with a score of 78 to finish with a 153, one stroke ahead of Arzate. Arzate shot a 1-over 73 to finish with a two-day score of 154. Juggins carded a 75 to finish with a score of 156.

Senior Mike Hannon tied for 22nd after a 10-stroke improvement to finish with a two-round score of 166.

Bellevue won the team title with a score of 613, edging out Viterbo by six strokes. Bellevue out-shot Viterbo by four strokes today (301-305) to turn a two-stroke lead into a six-stroke victory.

Bellevue returns to play on Sunday when they take part in Iowa Western Community College's Tournament at Bent Tree in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
