Arzate’s second place finish helps BU to fourth at U.C. Ferguson Classic

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Freshman Fernando Arzate finished second overall after shooting an even par for the tournament to lead the Bellevue University men's golf team to a fourth place finish at the U.C. Ferguson Classic, hosted by Oklahoma City University.

Entering the final round with a one-stroke lead over Adam Blomme of Odessa, Arzate eagled two holes and shot a 73 but Blomme carded a 70 to take the individual title by two strokes (211-213).

Freshman Marc Juggins tied for 12th overall after a third round 74 gave him a final score of 220 (+7).

Juniors Juan Gomez and Diego Gudino shot 75 and 76, respectively, to finish with scores of 226 and 227 to finish in ties for 27th and 32nd. Fellow junior Nicolas Handal recorded a third round 82 to finish at 236, in a tie for 63rd in the 82-golfer field.

Oklahoma City won the team title with a three-round score of 859, 10 strokes ahead of Odessa College (869). Grand View, Bellevue, and Oklahoma City "B" shot 875, 884, and 887, respectively, to round out the top five.

Bellevue returns to the links on Monday, Sept. 28 to compete in the two-day North Star Fall Tournament which is being held in Fargo, N.D. at the Oxbow Country Club.
