Arzate leads with Bruins in third after two rounds

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Freshman Fernando Arzate was at or under par in each of the first two rounds to push the Bellevue University men's golf team into third place after two rounds at the U.C. Ferguson Classic. The tournament is being played at the Lincoln Park Golf Course's West Course.

Arzate opened with an even par 71 in the first round before following that up with a 2-under 69 in the second for a two-round total of 140 (-2). He leads all golfers at the event, a stroke up on Odessa College's Adam Blomme.

Freshman Marc Juggins sits in a tie for 13th place overall after scores of 76 and 70 in rounds one and two.

Juniors Diego Gudino, Juan Gomez, and Nicolas Handal have shot 151, 151, and 154, respectively as Gudino and Gomez are tied for 30th and Handal is tied for 43rd.

Odessa and Oklahoma City co-lead the team scoring with two-round scores of 575, 11 strokes ahead of the Bruins. Grand View (587) and Western Texas (593) round out the top five in the 14-team field.

Play resumes tomorrow with the third final round of the U.C. Ferguson Classic.
