CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Bellevue University men's golf team is in a tie with Illinois Wesleyan University in second place after the first round of competition in the 19-team Cropper Golf Classic hosted Mount Mercy College at the Hunters Ridge Golf Course on Saturday.
Jose Vega paces the Bruins with an even-par score of 72 which places him in a tie for third place. Taylor Sundbom also placed in the top 10, finishing with a one-over-par 73 which puts in a tie for sixth place.
Host Mount Mercy leads the field with the team total of 295. Bellevue is five strokes behind with a total of 300.
Ryan Schlueter (Mount Mercy) leads the tournament with a two-under-par 70.
