Dukes recognized as NSAA Player of the Week

MADISON, S.D. -- Bellevue University senior Connor Dukes (Plattsmouth, Neb.) has been named the North Star Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Dukes led Bellevue in scoring in each of their two games last week as the Bruins picked up wins over both Politecnica (67-41) and Sagrado Corazon (75-66). In Bellevue's victories, he averaged 15 points per game on 55.6 percent shooting and sank 5-of-12 three-point attempts while hitting on 5-of-6 free throws. Defensively, he totaled four steals on the week.

Against Politecnica, Dukes scored 13 points on 4-of-8 shooting while recording a pair of steals and a blocked shot on the defensive end. He followed that up by scoring 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting (3-7 from 3-point range) and a pair of steals against Sagrado Corazon.

For the season, Dukes averages 11.5 points per game on 53.1 percent shooting from the floor and 82.8 percent shooting from the free throw line. His 45.2 percent clip from behind the arc is good for 45th nationally and third in the North Star. Additionally, he has totaled 13 steals which is good for third on the team.

Dukes becomes the earn Bruin to win NSAA Player of the Week honors this season, joining Jemeil King (Nov. 11, Nov. 18, Dec. 2) and Lewis Hayes (Oct. 28).

Bellevue (9-5 | 1-0) hosts College of the Ozarks (Dec. 29) and Graceland University (Dec. 30) in the Fairfield Inn & Suites Bruin Classic this weekend. Both games tip off at 7 p.m.
