Big week sees King earn NSAA recognition

MADISON, S.D. -- Bellevue University junior Jemeil King (Oakland, Calif.) has been named the North Star Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player off the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

King averaged 22 points on 60 percent shooting from the floor and four rebounds per game to lead BU to a 1-1 record at Midland University's Draemel Classic. Additionally, he totaled 16 assists – with a 2.3 assist-to-turnover ratio – and five steals

He totaled 12 points, seven assists, four rebounds, and three steals as BU fell to No. 2-ranked Morningside College to open the Classic.

King followed up that performance by going off for 32 points on 13-of-19 shooting and dishing out nine assists to lead BU back from a 23-point deficit to defeat Midland 101-98 in double-overtime. His 32 points against Midland are tied for the most this season by a conference player against an NAIA opponent.

It marks the third time in the past four weeks that King has been named the NSAA Player of the Week.

King currently leads the North Star in scoring at 17.8 points per game, assists (59), assists per game (5.4), and rebounds (62). He is tied for second with 27 three-pointers and ranks third in the league averaging 5.6 rebounds per game.

Bellevue opens conference play on Saturday, Dec. 7 at Dakota State University. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. from inside the DSU Fieldhouse.
