LA CROSSE, Wis. -- Four Bruins scored in double figures and the defense limited the Crimson Wave to just 39 percent shooting as the No. 22-ranked Bellevue University men's basketball team defeated Calumet College of St. Joseph 79-65 on Saturday afternoon inside the R.W. Beggs Sr. Gymnasium at the Viterbo University Invitational.

Bellevue trailed by as many as nine midway through the opening half as they hit on just four of their first 12 field goal attempts.
The Bruins picked it up offensively, out-scoring CCSJ 26-10 over the final 9:47 of the period to take a 36-29 lead into halftime.
Out of the break, Jemeil King drained a three-pointer to give Bellevue their first double-digit lead of the game but CCSJ answered back with five-straight points to cut the deficit.
That was as close as CCSJ would get the remainder of the game as Bellevue ran off a 7-0 run in just 35 seconds. Bellevue pushed the lead to double figures for good on a triple from Jaron Dickson with 9:59 to play to kick off a 13-2 Bellevue run.
King led four Bruins in double figures with 21 points while Amenofis Mitchell poured in 14, Lewis Hayes chipped in 13, and Dickson tossed in 12 off the bench.
Core'Von Lott (27) and Germaine Roebuck (22) accounted for 49 of CCSJ's 65 points as the rest of the team combined to shoot just 4-of-19 from the floor.
Mitchell led the Bruins with seven boards as Bellevue picked up a 34-26 rebounding advantage and a comfortable 15-4 edge in second chance points on the afternoon. Roebuck paced the Crimson Wave with eight rebounds.
BU out-shot CCSJ 48.1-38.9 percent from the floor and drained 14 three-pointers on 41.2 percent shooting while Calumet St. Joseph made just five triples on 23.8 percent shooting from long-range.
Bellevue shared the ball well, picking up 16 assists on 25 made buckets. Dickson and Mitchell led the way with four dimes apiece.
