BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The 10th-ranked Bellevue University men's basketball team cruised past in-state foe York College, 93-69, Friday night in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference action at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.

Bellevue is now 10-1 at home and improved to 24-5 overall and 11-2 in the MCAC while York dropped to 15-12 and 5-8 in conference action.

Thomas Hammock and Lee Ames both led BU with 17 points. Ames also tied a career-high with seven rebounds and added four assists. Hammock made five 3-pointers and chipped three assists.

Dimitri Chonis finished with 13 points and a career-high eight rebounds in just 15 minutes off the bench.

Given Kalipinde recorded 12 points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals.

After YC opened the game on a layup, the Bruins went on a 12-2 run to take a 12-4 lead four minutes into the contest. The Panthers pulled within three, 24-21, but BU closed the final nine minutes on a 30-9 spurt to take a 24-point lead at halftime, 54-30.

Kalipinde and Hammock led the Bruins with 12 points each in the first period.

BU led by as many as 40 points (83-43) in the second en route to the 24-point conference home win.

The Bruins shot 50.8 percent from the field and held YC to 43.5 percent shooting. BU also made 11 3-pointers and notched 22 assists on its 32 made field goals.

Remi Mignott paced the Panthers with 15 points, six rebounds and three assists.

BU will wrap-up the regular season tomorrow (Feb. 22) when they play host to Central Christian College (17-11, 3-9 MCAC) at 5:00 p.m. The Bruins will honor its four seniors prior to tip-off.
