Bruins top Rocky Mountain 92-87 in OT

BILLINGS, Mont. -- The Bellevue University men's basketball team erased an eight-point deficit in the final two minutes of regulation, then outscored Rocky Mountain College 9-4 in overtime to edge the Bears, 92-87, Wednesday night at the Fortin Center.

Ninth-ranked Bellevue improved to 9-4 while Rocky Mountain fell to 6-8 overall.

Jelani Johnson registered a game-high 22 points and nine rebounds. Jeremy Arrington connected on 6-of-10 three-pointers and scored 18 points. Other Bruins recording double-figures included James Parrott with 17 points while Richard Shepherd added 15 points and six assists.

BU shot 45.5 percent from the field while RMC shot 47.8 percent. The Bruins were also outrebounded by 11, 50-39.

Johnson recorded 11 points and four rebounds in the first half as the Bruins shot 44.1 percent from the field. BU was outrebounded 24-17 and trailed by one, 41-40, at halftime.

Parrott scored six points in the final 2:08 to help the Bruins erase an eight-point deficit and force the overtime, finishing regulation on a 10-2 run. 

BU scored nine of the 13 overtime points to pull out the 92-87 win. Johnson scored seven points in the extra period for the Bruins.

The Bruins will conclude action in the Rocky Mountain Classic with a 7:00 p.m. CST contest against Carroll College tomorrow.
