Shawn Malley wrapped up his 16th season as an assistant baseball coach for the Bruins in the 2022-23 school year. His off-field responsibilities include fundraising, recruiting and organizing statistics. Malley's on-field priorities focus on the pitchers, infielders, hitters and defensive strategies.

The Billings, Mont., native graduated from Billings Skyview High School in 1995. During that time, Malley played five years in the nationally-renowned Billings Post #4 American Legion program for the Billings Royals. After a successful American Legion career, Malley played at North Idaho College in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, for one year before transferring to Mayville State University in Mayville, N.D., to finish his playing career.

Due to an upper arm injury, Malley jumped into the coaching ranks while still playing at Mayville State. In 1996, during his first coaching assignment, he had a successful start by helping guide the Class A Billings Blue Jays to a Montana State Tournament title and an American Legion Western Regional Tournament fourth-place finish.

Malley has promoted Bellevue University and the Bruins Baseball Program on the national level as a coach, clinician and support staff at regional and national tournaments, camps, clinics, showcases and tryouts for USA Baseball.

In his 13 seasons with Bellevue, Malley has seen 66 players sign professional contracts either with Major League affiliates or independent teams. He has played an instrumental role in the development of BU's eight pitchers that have been drafted during his tenure; RHP Nick Love (2008, 32nd round), LHP Steve Junker (2009, 32nd round), RHP Justin Long (2009, 24th round), LHP Brennan Henry (2014, 17th round), LHP Kyle Kinman (2014, 25th round),  RHP Stephan Meyer (2015, 18th round), RHP Leland Tilley (2016, 32nd round), and RHP John Timmins (2016, 32nd round).

He and his wife, Shari, reside in Omaha, Neb. with their five children, Regan (17), Reese (15), Riley (11) and twins Renzie and Ryan (10).

Malley earned a bachelor's degree in sports management with a minor in coaching and a specialization in business and health from Mayville State. In May of 2010, he completed a master's degree in Leadership from Bellevue University.

In addition to his duties as a baseball assistant, he also serves as the athletic facilities manager.
