Jespersen signed by Bruins

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University baseball coach Duane Monlux announced today the signing of Josh Jespersen (Fremont, Calif./Canada College) to a National Letter of Intent to continue his baseball and academic careers at Bellevue beginning in the fall.

Jespersen comes to BU from Canada College near Redwood City, Calif. where he was a first team all-Coast Pacific selection in 2019.

He batted .396/.476/.511 across 38 games while manning the keystone for Canada this past season. In addition to his .987 OPS he registered swiped 10 bases (in 10 attempts), 12 extra-base hits, 25 RBI, and scored 28 runs while drawing 24 walks against just 13 strikeouts.

Coach Monlux on Jespersen:

"Josh comes to us from Canada College in California. He had a tremendous sophomore season after suffering an injury as a freshman. He batted just a tick below .400 for the season in a very good junior college conference. He is a solid defender that handles the bat as well. He is also a tremendous student. We are really excited to have him join the Bruin family."

Jespersen joins earlier signees Andrew Ishii (Salem, Ore./Chemeketa CC), Josh Vaughan (Boise, Idaho/College of the Siskiyous), and Charlie Patterson (Eugene, Ore./Lane CC) in the Bruins' 2019 recruiting class.

Bellevue concluded the 2019 season with a 48-16 overall record and 23-1 mark in NSAA play. The Bruins closed the year by winning 41 of their final 44 games en route to earning the program's 14th Avista NAIA World Series Appearance. BU claimed both the NSAA Regular-Season and Tournament titles before going on to win the NAIA Opening Round – Shreveport Bracket.
