Baseball lands commitment from shortstop Vaughan

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Bellevue University baseball coach Duane Monlux announced today the signing of Josh Vaughan (Boise, Idaho/College of the Siskiyous) to a National Letter of Intent to continue his baseball and academic careers at Bellevue beginning in the fall.

Vaughan comes to BU from College of the Siskiyous in Weed, Calif. This past season at Siskiyous, he was a unanimous first team All-Golden Valley Conference selection after batting .361 with an .890 OPS, 22 RBI, and 19 runs scored in 32 games.

In 64 career games, Vaughan posted a .318/.389/.397/.786 line and totaled 14 extra-base hits, 31 RBI, and scored 36 runs. Defensively, he posted a .941 fielding percentage at short this season, registering 107 assists and 53 putouts.

Coach Monlux on Vaughan:

"We are excited to have been able to sign Josh. He is a big, physical kid that has played a very good shortstop while at College of the Siskiyous. Josh is a very good student and a very solid baseball player. We expect big things from Josh in a Bruin uniform."

Vaughan joins earlier signee Andrew Ishii (Salem, Ore./Chemeketa CC) in the Bruins' 2019 recruiting class.

Bellevue concluded the 2019 season with a 48-16 overall record and 23-1 mark in NSAA play. The Bruins closed the year by winning 41 of their final 44 games en route to earning the program's 14th Avista NAIA World Series Appearance. BU claimed both the NSAA Regular-Season and Tournament titles before going on to win the NAIA Opening Round – Shreveport Bracket.
