SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- The third-ranked Bellevue University baseball team picked up a 4-1 non-conference victory Tuesday at Morningside's Lewis & Clark Park. 

The Bruins improved 32-6 with the win. Morningside fell to 29-10 with the loss. 

Both teams had eight hits in the contest, but the Mustangs were plagued by three fielding errors. 

Neither team scored until an RBI double to left center by Connor Garrison gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning. 

The Mustangs tied it at 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth on a one-run single by Cole Halgerson. 

Bellevue quickly responded in the top of the seventh with a solo homer to left field by Todd Nicks to give BU a 2-1 advantage. 

A fielding error by Mustang second baseman Nolan Hoff following a single by Trevor Jones allowed BU too increase the lead to 3-1 in the eighth frame. Jones scored on a sacrifice fly to center field by Jake Browne to make it 4-1. 

Tony Monroy (1-1) earned the win, scattering seven hits with two strikeouts and one walk in seven innings of work. Leland Tilley, who entered the game in the bottom of th eighth, recorded his team-leading seventh save of the season. He allowed just one hit and struck out two in two innings on the mound.

The Bruins will travel to Valley City, N.D. this Saturday-Sunday, April 16-17 for a four-game conference series at Valley City State University. Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday's twinbill will start at noon.
