OMAHA, Neb. -- The 10th-ranked Bellevue University baseball team won its eight and ninth-straight games, posting a doubleheader sweep over visiting Dakota State University Monday afternoon at Westgate Field. The Bruins won by scores of 2-0 and 5-3. 

The shutout in the opener marked the third-straight game BU had not allowed a run. 

The Bruins (35-6-1/14-2 MCAC) will host Oklahoma Wesleyan University on Friday-Saturday (April 19-20) in a four-game conference series. The doubleheaders will begin each day at 1 p.m. at Westgate Field. 

Game 1: Bellevue 2, Dakota State 0

Kyle Kinman threw a complete-game four-hit shutout to lift the Bruins to the 2-0 win over Dakota State in the opener. 

Kinman racked up 10 strikeouts with two walks, while improving to 6-2 on the season. 

The only score of the game came on a two-run double by Andy Smolinski in the bottom of the second inning. 

Game 2: Bellevue 5, Dakota State 3

The Bruins erupted for five runs in the bottom of the second, highlighted by RBI singles from Ryan Knutz and Kinman. BU collected three hits, while taking advantage of two Trojan errors in the inning. 

DSU broke the Bruins' 28-scoreless-innings streak when it sliced the lead to 5-3 in the top of the third, sparked by a sacrifice fly from Rays Roman and an RBI double to right center field by Ryan Bourcier. 

The Trojans threatened in the top of the seventh, opening the inning with consecutive singles by Roman and Kevin Madera. However, Tanner Moore entered the game and forced Bourcier into a double play, before striking out Riley Bullington to record his team-leading sixth save of the season.
